The green painted steel buckle is the early variation with the flat cam lever, approximately dating the chinstrap's production from late 1942 to mid 1943. The buckle is secured by an unmarked rivet. This would be an ideal chinstrap for a helmet liner with either non painted or green painted steel A washers. Provenance Private Collection, West Milford, New Jersey Condition
